Art Journalling Project

In Learn to Craft with Paper I was attracted to the project Cherish Accordion Book.

It was a challenge! The paper-folding instructions for the accordion pages were in one short paragraph without pictures! But a few scraps of paper and a relaxed mind soon found me with the desired folded accordion! Rendering it again in card for the actual project was another learning experience. I learnt techniques for accurate folding - so proud of my sharp corners on the diagonal folds!!

It isn't complete, but here are the results so far:

I will be offering a tutorial to share what I have learned through this project. Kits will be available for purchase to make a version of it. It can be used as a photo album for your own personal photos (size 4"x4"). Watch my blog or FB page for schedule.

Art Journalling Inspiration

I bought a book:

Learn to Craft with Paper from the Company's Coming series.

Art Journalling

Since early this year I have been exploring Art Journalling; learning and experimenting with techniques and allowing pages to evolve from various backgrounds and experimentation with image transfers and die-cut embellishments.

Each page is continuously under creation and re-creation and reflecting back through the pages, I have slowly come to realize that what is emerging as a theme is "revealing and revelation".

Here are a few sample pages...

Theology Art Project - December 2009

Here are a few more photographs with an attempt to improve the picture quality.

The project explored using the mystical tradition of the Kabbalah as a lens through which to illuminate two the passages in the Bible which reference sexuality: 1. Genesis 3 and 2. The Song of Songs.

The Kabbalah is the mystical tradition of the Jewish faith; the western Kabbalah, however, was revived by Christian artists and writers who were searching for the source of their creativity. Its centre piece is the Tree of Life with ten Sephiroth representing ten divine pulses and the pattern of creation.
